The Top Ten Global Outsourcing Cities
Global Services magazine, a leading news resource for buyers of outsourced and offshore services, conducted a joint study of 50 emerging outsourcing destinations in the world. Based on the study, the magazine came up with the top ten global outsourcing cities. The chosen cities were ranked based on low cost, developed infrastructure, skilled workers and low attrition.
Five of the top ten destinations, including the number one spot, are in India. Chennai in Tamin Nadu, India ranked number one in the list. The study said Chennai is expected to have more than 73,000 workers at the top three Indian IT companies (TCS, Infosys and Wipro) by 2010. Additionally, Chennai is also a location for automotive engineering services, product development and healthcare business process outsourcing.
The number two and three spots are Hyderabad and Pune, both also in India, followed by our very own Cebu Philippines, which is sandwiched between Indian cities as the fifth spot is taken by Kolkata.
The bottom half of the list includes Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Sri Lankan capital Colombo at seventh, Shanghai, China at eighth, Chandigarh, another city located in India takes the ninth spot, while Beijing, China closes off the list.
